About Me
My name is Robert Reynolds.  I go by Rob or Robz (nickname from my  fraternity brothers) .  I currently live in Topeka, KS.  I work for a bank in Topeka, KS, and specialize in ASP.NET (Visual Basic) and other web design.  This site was completely done by me (except for the blogging engine ) including the graphics and flash animation.
What does a bank have to do with information technology? I work in the Information Technology Dept where we develop and maintain products to support the other departments.
Why do you love your job?
  1. I work on a team where my opinion is valued .
  2. I work on a team where there is a lot of autonomy .  I can make alot of decisions on the software that I write.
  3. I get to program ASP.NET !
  4. We are AGILE! This means we get to estimate how long tasks will take us.
  5. I like stress, and we get deadlines that are sometimes challenging to meet.
  6. My team is able to joke around with each other in a way that doesn't defer from work. At times it has actually increased productivity (when we have little competitions).

If you are looking at this and thinking about hiring me, make sure you meet 1 - 4.  (NOTE: I am not moving for a long time because I really like the management.)

I am always trying to better myself and my work.  I see what I do as a reflection of self.  I want that to be one of improvement, of working towards something.  I am very self-motivated to achieve something more than I have already, and I don't know where the driving force comes from, but I like it.  My hope is that when I pass on, people will say that I was always trying to do things better, that I never settled for status quo, and that I was a great guy to be around.

In my personal life, I am married to a wonderful and beautiful girl named Brandi.  You will probably hear about her in my blogs.  Like all women, she can be trying at times, but I don't know where I would be without her.  I am a very independent person and at times this conflicts with our relationship, but we figure things out.

Below I have written down some of my goals.  I know that they should be divided better than personal and professional.  In my mind I have them divided up well and written down somewhere else.  This part of the page is for me more than it is for you, but if you want to read through, feel free.  It kind of gives me something to go off of, and a way to have millions of people who I have never met hold me accountable.  <winks> Yeah, right!

Personal History
I was born here in Kansas a long time ago. I have lived here all of my life.  Most of my early life was in poverty and I am very blessed to be where I am at today (READ: We didn't have a phone until I was a Senior in high school).   I have two brothers and supportive parents.  Everything I have in my life now I have had to work for and maybe that is where I have achieved my good work ethic.

My first love was to be an actor, but since I probably don't pass the attractive test that wasn't going to happen. Plus there are thousands of dudes named Robert Reynolds, so I don't know how I could ever stand out or become an actor.   So I had to find something else to specialize in. That was computers.  <smiles>  I have an unspoken love, hate and respect relationship for the power of computing and the internet.

I spent most of my young days before college being a normal kid, I didn't even really get into computers until I got to college.  I guess I am a fast learner (or maybe my first computer was such a piece of crap I learned alot) because now, less than 10 years later I am able to work on computers and also program.  I would say I have a fast thought process, but some days I am not sure how fast it is. <grins>

Goals
In the next ten years I would like to achieve these goals:
